A Stage 2 stock is in the markup phase of Stan Weinstein's four-stage cycle: price is above its 30-week (150-day) moving average and that average is itself rising. It is the only stage in which a long position has the trend behind it — which is why "buy only in Stage 2" is the core rule of Secrets for Profiting in Bull and Bear Markets.
We split Stage 2 by how far price has run above the average, because the risk is very different: 2A (under 15% above) is the early, lower-risk entry zone; 2B (15–40%) is a maturing trend; 2C (40%+) is extended and prone to sharp pullbacks.

- Moving average: 150-day simple average of daily closes (the daily equivalent of Weinstein's 30-week line).
- Stage 2 test: close above the average and the average's slope over the last 30 sessions is positive (more than +0.02% per day).
- Sub-stage: 2A under 15% above the average, 2B 15–40%, 2C 40% or more.
- Mansfield RS: the ratio of the stock's price to a broad Nifty index, compared with that ratio's own 52-week average. Above zero means the stock is outperforming the market.
- Refresh: recomputed from end-of-day data after every NSE session.

What is a Stage 2 stock?
A stock trading above a rising 30-week (150-day) moving average — the advancing phase of Stan Weinstein's four-stage model (basing, advancing, topping, declining). It is the stage in which most of a stock's sustained gains occur.
What is the difference between Stage 2A, 2B and 2C?
They measure how extended the uptrend is. 2A is within 15% of the 150-day average (early, lowest risk), 2B is 15–40% above it, and 2C is more than 40% above it — extended, where a pullback to the average is common.
How often is this Stage 2 stock list updated?
After every NSE trading session, once end-of-day prices are final. The date above the table shows exactly which session the list is from.
Is Stage 2 enough to buy a stock?
No. Stage 2 says the trend is up; it says nothing about entry timing, valuation or your risk. Traders usually combine it with relative strength (Mansfield RS above zero), a base or breakout pattern and a stop-loss. This page is educational, not a recommendation.
Why only the Nifty Total Market universe?
