Market report: three briefings a day, built for you

Before the open you want the overnight picture; at lunch, whether the morning thesis still holds; after the close, what actually happened. The Market Report writes all three as short bullet briefings, on a clock.

What it is

A plain-English wrap of the market, rebuilt at three fixed times each weekday.

Each briefing has a title, a short set of bullets and a verdict label. It is a summary of conditions — indices, global cues, movers, volatility — not a call on what to trade. The value is speed: thirty seconds of reading instead of ten tabs.

The three slots and their times

SlotShown (IST)What it covers
Pre-market08:45 to 12:15Overnight US close, Asia, a GIFT proxy, commodities, top F&O movers from the previous close, the expiry calendar, what to expect today
Mid-market12:15 to 15:35Live indices, today's movers, VIX, expiry urgency, what to expect for the rest of the day
Post-market15:35 onwards, and overnight until 08:45The close, the day's gainers and losers, VIX, FII/DII cash activity and tomorrow's outlook

The report is rebuilt automatically at 08:45, 12:15 and 15:35 IST on weekdays. Between those times you see the most recent slot. Before 08:45 the page deliberately keeps the previous session's post-market wrap rather than building a pre-market note from half the overnight data. You can still switch between all three narratives on the page.

How to read the verdict

The badge runs Bullish, Mildly Bullish, Neutral, Mildly Bearish, Bearish. It summarises the tone of the inputs in that briefing — how global cues, index moves and breadth line up — at the moment it was built.

Use it as a bias check, not a direction. The useful moment is when the verdict disagrees with your plan. A Bearish pre-market note on a morning you planned to buy breakouts is a prompt to look at why, not an instruction to stop. And a verdict built at 08:45 knows nothing about 10:30. That is what the mid-market update is for.

How it reaches you

Worked example: using two slots in one day

Hypothetical day. The 08:45 briefing reads Mildly Bullish: US indices closed up, Asia mixed, the GIFT proxy points to a modestly higher open, and expiry is two sessions away. You plan to favour long setups.

At 12:15 the toast arrives. The mid-market note reads Neutral: NIFTY is up 0.2% but VIX is up 6% on the day and the movers list is dominated by losers. Two things have changed from the morning — the rise is narrow and volatility is being bid. That is the cue to check breadth before adding, and to tighten guards on what you already hold.

At 15:35 the post-market wrap records how the day closed and the FII/DII cash numbers, which is where tomorrow's pre-market reading starts.

Common mistakes

Where to find it

  1. Open Options Analytics → Market → Market Report.
  2. Pick a slot to read, or leave it on the current one.
  3. Use Share as image to send it on.

Common questions

When is the pre-market report available?

From 08:45 IST, when it is rebuilt. Before that the page shows the previous session's post-market wrap.

When does the mid-market update come out?

At 12:15 IST on weekdays. A one-time toast tells you when it is ready.

Is the verdict a buy or sell recommendation?

No. It summarises the tone of the briefing's inputs at the time it was built. Treat it as a bias check.

Can I share the market report?

Yes. Share as image saves a PNG or opens your device's share sheet.
